I've had a couple of questions already, so allow me to
elaborate further on the kit's content.
The kit will include cast resin end railings, Trout
Creek Engineering etched brass 4-rung ladders, the brackets for the marker
lights are cast onto the body (if you want to actually hang marker lights,
you'll need to shave off the cast ones and add better
brackets). There are castings for the
electric lights under the roof on each end of the car. There will
be three castings for the wagon-wheel antenna that are to be mounted on a
vertical wire, the roofwalk will be Tichey's steel grate #3077. All kits
will have one window blanked out, but will have a depressed area at the
appropriate location inside the shell so that the modeler can cut out the fourth
window and model an earlier,
non-electric-equipped version. It
also has the hopper window cut out in
the cupola end. I will be selling Microscale's decals
seperately.
I've tried to make it as complete as possible, while trying
to keep the price under $60. The modeler will need to scratch-build the window frames if opening the fourth window. I plan on
opening this window eventually,
offering a kit with all four windows on that side. Be advised that the
modeler will also be required to bend and
install their own hand grabs and cupola roof grabs. Adding these would
have added too much labor, making the kit too expensive.
