In looking at the photo of 14415, it is painted identically to 14151 and 13966, the first two painted Chinese red, and the June 2, 1959, air cylinder test date at Havelock, would likely indicate that 14415 was painted immediately after the other two, which Corbin photographed on May 30, 1959.

Here are the promised views of 14151 with its side door.  The first, taken in Cheyenne during May 1964 at the western end of its run from Sterling, shows the other side of the car, with not only the 13554's Allied trucks and the side door in place but also the marker and interior light charging receptacle with its set of louvers -- and no horizontal Scotchlite stripe below the car number.  I feel pretty certain that once all the Q's waycars were outfitted with batteries -- or at least all those regularly used on Lines West -- and the charging receptacles were clearly visible on the side of the car (admittedly on only one side), the Scotchlite stripe was dispensed with.  It remained on some cars, however, throughout the 1960s.  The second photo, taken at the Q's 23rd Street coachyard in Denver, shows the 14151 in January of 1976.  The car had been moved over to the coachyard following the complete closure of the former C&S yard, roundhouse and shop facilities at Seventh Street (Rice Yard), where wooden waycars awaiting retirement had been stored awaiting disposition.  As Ken Martin has noted, the car still looked this way in August 1976, and it was retired and sold in September 1976, never having received its BN number or green paint.

Next up:  photos of 13554 with and without Allied trucks.
