And another Condr told me "they split the switch" which I had a hard time picturing on a mainline. But sure enough the photos show at least one tank with trucks on each main and the car going kinda sideways ! 

I don't believe I've ever seen that before except on yard tracks

Hello Group.  Talked to a Conductor in Galesburg yesterday and he said the derailment was right on the Galena (Jct.) turnout.  around 21 cars derailed and 6 were breached.  The train was going about 23 MPH over the 25 MPH turnout.  No injuries.  Bud Linroth.

Correct, the “bike path” is the old branch to Galena. The bonfire is about the former location of the Jct station.

I believe that the bike path is the old CB&Q right of way.

Either that or the old Great Western Main.  We always drove into Galena Jct. on it.

Does anyone else agree that From the photos and location description yesterday's crude wreck seems to be at Galena Jct.
I'm thinking the bike path the news media is referencing is the former Galena branch
