Charlie - I'm almost positive that the late Glenn Monhart of Hinsdale, IL, took one or more photographs of the scrap NYC steam power at the Clyde Roundhouse if any one knows what happened to Glenn's large photograph collection. Glenn was a very accomplished rail fan photographer in the mid-1950s and early 1960s. Best Regards - Louis
Charlie - Speaking of NYC steam power on the Q, have you ever seen an image of the NYC 4-8-2 Mohawk and 2-8-2s on a side track at the Clyde Roundhouse in Cicero for inspection while in route to Northwestern Steel & Wire at Sterling, IL for scrapping some time in the mid-1950s? Now, that's an image I would like to see along with the one of the NYC Class J 4-6-4 on the elevated mainline in Aurora. Those images have got to out there some where... Best Regards - Louis
It is amazing what photos are out there!
While on the subject of CB&Q steam photos, does anyone have the photo of a NYC J 4-6-4 on the superstructure at Aurora? I saw it at a swap at the Little Q in Aurora many, many moons ago and either failed to snap it up or it had already been purchased.
It would be interesting to see again and especially see the notes and dates if they were recorded.
