[CBQ] C&S Steam Power Sold Off Line [1 Attachment]

Hol and Group - One more Q-connected C&S image (inserted and attached) is that of ex-C&S No. 604 that was sold to the Galesburg & Great Eastern RR < http://www.guidetozscale.com/html/g_ge_history.html >:

 

 

C&S 604 was sold to the Galesburg & Great Eastern RR (the Corbin book does not give a date) that interchanged with the Q at Wataga, IL, near Galesburg. The short line served coal mines in the area. The image shown here is dated 1937 and identified as being at Galesburg. I believe the location is incorrect and may be at Wataga where the short line's engine shed was located. I vaguely recall hearing that the big 2-8-0 was too heavy for the track and was only used a short time before being retired.
