Similar views of the 9901-02 as both the Sam Houston Zephyr and the Texas Rocket appeared in Bulletin No. 19 on Teague, Texas.  The 990s, of course, was destroyed in a collision and fire while on this run in 1944, being replaced the next year by E5 9909 and a train of conventional (i.e., non-articulated) lightweight cars.

Subject: [CBQ] Sam Houston Zephyr

 

Found this picture at the Goode Company Armadillo Palace in Houston last Friday during my niece’s rehearsal dinner. It’s behind glass and I couldn’t get a shot without glare. Does someone have a copy they can send me? I’m modeling the B-RI, and want to include this train.
