Scott - Here's another undated image of derrick 204376, this time
clearing-up a derailment at Erie, IL:

May be this will help. Best Regards - Louis

Sorry but I
“cheated”! I couldn’t find a clear enough photo to show the actual words so I
used a decal about the right size and shape from a miscellaneous sheet. It
must have been convincing as nobody queried it!
The wording on this
notice would be unique to this piece of equipment and you are therefore
unlikely to find a decal for it. I suggest that you should seriously
consider “cheating”.

I have been trying to
complete a reasonably close model of this derrick for some time, but have been
stymied by not being able to read the words under the "DANGER" lettering on
the rear and sides of the cab. Louis' photo is clearer than most I have
seen, and I can read some of the lettering. Can someone with better
eyesight than I tell me what the complete wording is? Also, any
suggestions for an HO scale decal set to use for this lettering? I seem
to remember a photo of a derrick model by Rupert Gamlen in "The Zephyr" years
ago from the annual meet model contest, so perhaps Rupert is one source that
can enlighten me (us).
Thanks in advance,
Scott
