Nelson,

It's a regular on eBay as some one sells copies. That is where I got my copy.

Gene,

Thanks. This is just what I needed. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a diagram book for sale.

Nelson,

Information I have from the 1965 diagram book is as follows:

20000-20089 XP-1 50’ car with 10’ doors steel parts car

20100-20299 XP-1B 50’ car with 10’ doors steel parts car

20500-20509 XP-1A 50’ car steel parts car with 1 end door

The next series gets a little muddled due to the numbering of hoppers in the number sequence at some point.

21000

21399

BOX

50

XM-33

STEEL SINGLE DOOR CAR

22000

22069

HOPPER

50

HT-14

STEEL 4 BAY RIBSIDE

22000

22499

BOX

50

XM-33A

STEEL SINGLE DOOR CAR

22500

22749

BOX

50

XM-33A

STEEL SINGLE DOOR CAR

Maybe this will help.

Subject: [CBQ] Boxcar Series Question

I went through the CB&Q listings in the 1953 ORER, and I found four number series between 20000-22749 that I can’t identify to class. They are listed as follows:

XAP, auto, steel, 20000-20299

XAP, auto, steel, end door, 20500-20509

XM, steel, 21000-22749 (25 cars in this class were classed XME and they had DF loaders)

I’m guessing these were the 50 ft. steel boxcars with and without end doors that Walthers offered, but I don’t know the CB&Q class to which they were assigned. The publication index wasn’t helpful, as a search on these series number gave C&S hoppers.

What classes were these cars?
