Gene I’m not Tom, but I would encourage you scanning those documents. I would like to see them. As they are multiple pages I would suggest a pdf format, which creates a smaller file than jpg. The CBQ group accepts attachments, so once scanned you can just attached them to an email and send to the group.

I have a work commitment the same time as the meet in Rock Island, so I will not be able to attend and see Jim’s presentation.

Tom,

Thanks for your suggestions.  Here's what I have:

* October 1965 BTL Dispatch - 30th Anniversary Issue; 16 pgs. with photos of 1933 BTL #14 International; 1934 C-30 with 20 ft. trailer; others.

* September 1958 BTL Dispatch - Featuring New Berwyn (IL) Terminal; 12 pgs.

* November 1956 BTL Dispatch - Featuring Personnel Announcements; 4 pgs.

* April 1961 - 3 page statement by W.F. Wheeler, Asst. Gen. Mgr., before U.S. Senate subcommittee regarding piggyback operations.

If you think any of these would be of interest, what's the best way to post them?  I could scan and create PDF or JPG images, and attach them to a message to the group.  What do you suggest?

I haven't heard anything back from Jim Goodin.  He was looking for historical items for his upcoming presentation on BTL at an annual meeting coming up soon.

Gene,

I for one would enjoy seeing whatever you have be posted to this group. In particular, I don't know if you have information on the BTL fleet, such as actual truck and tractor year/make/model info and trailer year/make/model info. (e.g., The July 1967 ORER shows 1231 Burlington trailers in 19 number series, 342 containers in 3 number series, and 212 chassis in 4 number series.) I model in HO the late 60's, so I am always interested in detailed info of what was owned by the Q and also BTL at the time. It helps to find prototypical models or encourage the model manufacturers to do one.

As a side note to everyone, would BTL have had a presence in Savanna? e.g., were Burlington piggybacks and others unloaded at Savanna? (I believe Savanna had a piggyback ramp, though I am not sure exactly where in the yard it was located.) If so, would BTL tractors have been used?

I guess while we are at it, were all Burlington piggyback trailers considered BTL and vice-versa, or were there different trailers for BTL and Burlington in general? BTL photos I have seen sow just the "generic" BURLINGTON marked trailers. I guess I never thought of how all this interaction worked, but hopefully this sparks a good and productive discussion.
