Erik, The link to the Trainorders post did not come through and I'm not a member of Trainorders, so I cannot see it. In the research I've done on the Mark Twain Zephyr, I have found nothing that would indicate it every visited Topeka, KS. I've checked CB&Q correspondence for the exhibition tour of the 9900 from May 29th to June 12th, and Topeka is not on that agenda either. Is there anyway that a low-res copy of the slide could be shared for location identification. Here is a link to a history of the Mark Twain Zephyr on the BRHS web site: http://www.burlingtonroute.com/docs/route/wotz.html Dave Lotz dave_lotz@bellsouth.net -----Original Message----- From: CBQ@yahoogroups.com [mailto:CBQ@yahoogroups.com]On Behalf Of Erik Spoonmore Sent: Wednesday, April 16, 2014 1:32 PM To: cbq@yahoogroups.com Subject: [CBQ] Mark Twain Zephyr question Hello, A gentleman on the website Trainorders came across a slide of the Mark Twain Zephyr visiting what he says is Topeka, KS early in it's career. He was trying to get some more information on the visit (time, reason etc). I'm at work so I don't have access to my Zephyr materials and everything I have found online doesn't say anything about the MTZ doing a promotional tour in Topeka, KS. Can any member help out with details on this visit Here is a link to the Trainorders post, (not sure if you need to be a member to read it) Thanks Erik |
