Gene...I have always heard them referred to as a "Swift train order signal"....I have always assumed that swift was a style rather than a manufacturer. However...I have occasionally been wrong about some things....even today. Pete -----Original Message----- From: GENE TACEY <taceys@gpcom.net> To: CBQ <CBQ@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Sun, Mar 16, 2014 2:53 pm Subject: [CBQ] Another question about depots, train order board [1 Attachment] All, Have another question for the group. Attached is a photo of a train order board used on many lines west depots. It appears to be made for a lantern to set under the paddle for use at night. Other photos would indicate that these were electrified in later years with what appears to be a marker light mounted under the paddle. Is there a name for this type of signal. I read one publication where it was called a “Swift” but it was in quotes so not sure it was the name of the manufacturer or a slang term. Thanks again, Gene Tacey |
