Archie,
Thanks for offering your suggestions about the identity of "the post".
I am trying different things to see if I can either "zoom-in" as Bill
suggested. Or by using Photo Shop, crop the section of the image I have
special interest in and enlarge it. Neither works for me but that might be my
woeful computer skills.
I am not aware of the "P" type sign you mentioned but I still have a lifetime
of CB&Q info to try to cram into my brain.
As for DUS possibly meaning Dubuque Union Station I have my doubts. The CB&Q,,
IC and Milw Road all had their own depots on the Iowa side of the river. So I
will have to declare ignorance (what else is new?) about the DUS designation on
the steam engine
Later, Dave Sarther

Dave, It is the shape of a speed zone post. As I enlarged it the
letter P and number 8 seemed to show up. Possibly designating
passenger trains not to exceed 8 mph. Also the small steam engine on
far right appears to have the letters DUS on the side of the cab.
Possibly Dubuque Union Station. Archie
