The basics of what you are saying are correct. However, to nitpick a little, locomotive throttle notches 1-8 are not linear. For instance on a 3000Hp SD40 notch number 4 only produces 1085Hp, about 1/3rd the max 3000 Hp not 1/2. Even notch 5 does not get you quite 50%. 3000 Hp GP40/SD40 notch vs Hp output. 1=200hp=6.6% 2=390hp=13% 3=710hp=24% 4=1085hp=36% 5=1420hp=47% 6=1830hp=61% 7=2375hp=80% 8=3000hp=100% Other models/makes are similar. |
