The photos do indeed look like Iowa, and the track is right for the recently reconstructed Q mainline.  I looked through Corbin's collection of Q depot photos and negative, and somewhat surprisingly he has nothing of Thayer, so I don't know if this is the Thayer, Iowa, depot or not, but I'm guessing it is.

Same wreck. First image taken from on top the bridge show in left background of second image. Interesting image showing dead cattle from demolished stock cars, plus scattered arch bar and Fox trucks. Palace stock cars were advertised as the "humane" way to transport livestock in that era. I would imagine either local residents with rifles or the town marshal were quick on the scene to shoot injured cattle trapped in the wreckage to put them out of their misery. Any cattle that escaped were probably "claimed" by those who captured  them. A real MESS to clean-up to say the least. Now, where was Thayer???
