I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned point #3. Tenders on Q
steam power only had one fill opening that was oblong shape. So, the
engineer had to spot the tender along side the water plug within a foot or so
either direction in order for the spout to reach the fill opening. Also, the
water plug shown in the image was in all probability fed by a steel water tank
adjacent to the turntable where S-1-A 2850 and her sisters were turned. Perhaps,
someone on this List can Email Classic Trains with comments to points
#1, #3, #12 and #15. I'm including a view of the dual turbo generator set-up on
sister S-1-A 2830. Appears to be similar, but not exact, to the set-up on the
C&NW 4-6-2:
