The first ones i.e. converted to flanged wheels were called "inspection cars" but the later was equipped with Hi-Wheel, wheels were called just that, "Hi-Wheels" or "Hi-Wheelers". By the way, for many years, on the Q, they moved on train orders as "extra trains", instead of line ups, as they did in later years (post about 1960).

If the little 4 wheel, often open were called "motor cars", and the self propelled passenger carrying cars were "passenger motor cars", what were the converted/hirail automobiles called?
