This is definetly a a weed spray...It is a twin to or perhaps the very one I spent two days on summer 1958 between Lincoln and Falls City, NE The guy sitting on the right (picture left) is probably the head brakeman who was charged with regulating the speed and direction under the supervision of the roadmaster who is probably one of those in the cab..standing to the rear in white shirt. Guy in the middle is a member of the spray company who is operating the actual spraying mechanism Remember this is "pre radio" times...
Those two days were one of the most fun days I ever had as a trainman...I was "in control" of the "whole thing"...strictly using hand signals.
