You may have to paste the URL into the address box on your browser.  Alternatively, go to www.hathitrust.org which will give you access to over 7600 pre-1901 railroad magazines, such as Railroad Gazette, Railway Age, Locomotive, National Car Builder, American Engineer & Railway Journal, Railway Master Mechanic, etc.  The big disadvantage of Hathi is that you cannot download the volume, merely the page.

Ken’s reference at Hathi is to Railway Review 1887 volume 27 page 667 and 668.

Other sources of old magazines are www.archive.org and openlibrary.org. For modern magazines try www.trainlife.com

Enjoy!
