On page 12 of Bulletin number 10, alongside the first photo is a note that the nose MU was added to the E-5’s in the mid-1950’s, and on page 14 the texts reads -

Originally the E-7’s ran back-to-back as two-unit locomotives, since multiple unit connections were not added until the late Fifties and early Sixties. The small doors on the nose behind the painted “grills” housed connections for the electro-pneumatic brake system with which all Q E-units were equipped for Zephyr service.

In what year did Q E-units receive the nose hatches covering M-U connectors (and the associated rear connections) which enabled the operation of more than two units, elephant style? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
