Thank you your reply to my question about the CBQ depot in Rock Island.
Chuck From: "ejcon3841@aol.com" <ejcon3841@aol.com> To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, July 1, 2013 7:49 PM Subject: Re: [CBQ] CB&Q depot in Rock Island I don't know how familiar you are with the city of Rock Island, however I
will try to give you a location that will be meaningful. The depot was downtown
on the east end across from what was Spencer Square. Now the Rock Island
Post Office was built on that real estate several years ago and still exists
there today. This location put the depot about two blocks south of
the Mississippi River. The Rock Island depot was 1-2 miles further east on
the other side of the road from Augustana College. This depot still exists
as a banquet facility while the Q depot, as you're probably aware, burned down
approximately 50 years ago. Hope this helps you.
