Always referred to as "THE V 8"....  I believe it had a built in "turntable" under the center of the car so it could be turned around. 
 
I remember my grandfather talking about the time the St. Joe Division Superintendent  came to Rock Port over the RPL&N in his "Ford V8"  They made use of the built in "turntable" since the RPL&N had no turning facilities at either end.
