The disconnected section probably had to do with trainmen
union agreements, sonority and protecting those jobs.
I know of similar
instances on the Milwaukee. there are probably other instances of this
also happening on the CBQ as well.

- Working the Ottumwa Job in the Dispatchers office in Cicero we would
put out a work extra for it every day at Ft. Madison
- Also so St. Joe to Humeston and we ran the branches out of Creston,
Villisca and Red Oak. and Albia to Des Moines for three years with
the Wabash(NW) the other three years.
