Duncan,

The disconnected section probably had to do with trainmen union agreements, sonority and protecting those jobs.

I know of similar instances on the Milwaukee.  there are probably other instances of this also happening on the CBQ as well.

14.59 miles from Birmingham to Batavia was abandon 10/12/39
6.39 Miles Birmingham to Stockport  was abandon 5/14/56
Ft. Madison to Stockport abandon 6/1/80
The track chart of 1/6/60 shows it as Ottumwa Div.
Working the Ottumwa Job in the Dispatchers office in Cicero we would put out a work extra for it every day at Ft. Madison
Also so St. Joe to Humeston and we ran the branches out of Creston, Villisca and Red Oak.  and Albia to Des Moines for three years with the Wabash(NW) the other three years.
