Steve -
I haven't the time right now to look through my Q books, but I am sure Holck or Mike Spoor's volumes have some.   However, I have taken photos of my Athearn Genesis HO model of #9962A.   Athearn Genesis has done a great job of researching and modeling diesels accurately, as I know because of my D&RGW models from them.   From a modeler's viewpoint, Athearn Genesis are the best detailed and painted models available now.

There’s a color photo of F-3 9960ABC on train 39 (Exposition Flyer) on page 76 of Holck’s Burlington Route Color Pictorial Volume 1. The photo was taken on March 24, 1948, just before the CZ replaced the Exposition Flyer in 1949. The newly released Athearn F-3s match the photo quite accurately, so if you don’t have the book, look online at pictures of the Athearn model. I have the Athearn F-3 9960ABC set, and they’re nice models, though not your scale. While the set is ABA, the Q numbered them ABC, with the rear A unit numbered 9960C.

California Zephyr F-3s

Hi,

Am painting/decaling an OMI brass A-B-A set of F-3s for the California Zephyr in S-Scale, and don't have any color pictures I can find on the as-delivered paint scheme. I know the whiskers were black, but have a question about the color of the anti-climber as well as a sill stripe. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Steve Doyle
