Between St. Paul & Chicago most cars had their vestibules paired.   You boarded thru one and carry on baggage was loaded thru the other.  Dome cars had the vestibule trailing becausr that also was the dome stair configuration.   Seats in the dome faced forward and the stairway was behind you.   You view was not distracted by activity in the coach and at night your view also was not distracted.

I believe the 1956 DZ sleeping cars had their vestibules to the rear.   So did the slumbercoaches.  The dome coaches generally ran with vestibule to the rear, though they could be run either way.

All, How did the Q orient its sleeping cars, did the vestibule lead on the majority of the sleeping cars as it did with the CZ? I guess I should also ask about coaches, I guess they were mixed depending on how the seats were oriented. I have a hard time trying to match RTR coaches with vestibule orientation. Anyone know what the Con Cor Budd coach is based on and wether or not the vesitibule was the leading end? Dwight
