I used to sometimes announce: "Aurora, birthplace of this railroad, city of lights, garden of Egan, end of the line, Aurora." Doug

Subject: [CBQ] The "B" in CB&Q

A memory came to me today from a ride I took on the DZ from Aurora to Denver back in 1967. As our westbound train got close to the Mississippi River Bridge, the conductor (or other crew member) announced, "Coming into Burlington folks...this is the "B" in our CB&Q railroad! Burlington, I-O-WAY...BURLINGTON!"

Anyone recall who would have announced the stop this way? Probably someone whom was proud to work for the CB&Q.

Fitchburg,WI
