All,
This weekend I attended the East Coast Large Scale show in York, PA.
I had the opportunity to sit down and discuss the possibility of Accucraft producing a CB&Q locomotive in live steam. After a few ups and downs we decided that by using current components in production such as 4-6-4 running gear and by choosing the Aeolus we could avoid such problems as the larger Baker valve gear etc. because these would be covered by the shrouding. The scale would be 1:29 and produced by the AMS division of Accucraft. The model will have the correct drivers, eg spoke and box pox. It would be butane fired, but alcohol is a possibility. Electric version would also be a option.
We need 25 names of those interested in buying one of these engines.
No hard and fast commitment to buy at this time. Production could begin as soon as this year if we have enough interest.
Please PM me at georgecrawfordsr@comcast.net indicating your preference of powering, ie live steam alcohol or butane fired or electric. Matching cars would also be produced if enough engines sell.
Come on guys. Here is our chance to put CB&Q up there with all the UP, GN, Pennsy, NYC stuff already on the market.
Noel Crawford
PS If we can get this done maybe we may get a 4-8-4 someday. Wouldn't that be great.
