Verne, your Dad probably worked alongside a family friend,Ralph Abens who worked in the upholstery shop for many, many years. They lived on Spring St behind Sacred Heart School.

As general info for anyone looking for  family members from Aurora,IL and their years on the Q. A great resource is at the Aurora Public Library. Go to the old City Directories and pull up a chair. While they dont have all the issues they have most. By going year by year you can learn a lot about the hsitory, moves, etc of a person.

That is how I solved a decades old dilemna about my grandfathers seniority date being 5 years off from what he always told me was his length of service. Turns out he changed crafts after 5 years. Found it by going thru the city directories .

To the BRHS members sometime in the future you'll be seeing some of the other finds out of directories in the Bulletin.

Leo
