This was probably #43 which ran from Omaha to Billings, Mt via Lincoln, Ravenna, Alliance, Ne. and Sheridan, Wyo.. #42 was the eastbound counterpart. In the 30's & 40's there were several full-service trains on this route- #41 & 44 'General Custer' & #41 & #42 'Puget Sound Limited' westbound and 'Mississippi Valley Express' eastbound. There was also #42 & #43 'The Adventureland'. As you can see- the train numbers changed when new names were assigned to these trains.

Can anyone advise details of the overnight passenger service that ran north-westwards from Lincoln until 1969?  I'm particularly seeking the number, name and destination.
