The materials that Shapeways currently has available have some limitations and often need sanding to smooth their surface. I'm not trying to dissuade you, but consider this need in your design. A kit-style product, with sprues of parts to be added on rather than a one-piece shell is desirable, so that any parts to be added can be after surface areas have been smoothed. Bryan B.
