Those are some neat nicknames BUT I would not reveal who the "Shadow" or "Cupcake" are to say nothing of "Miss Piggy" or "Gramps"  we also had a "Poopsy" in the Cicero Office had once been a trainmaster
Steve in SC

Yes, Pete I remember Hadochol. They used to say it got it's name because, "They had a call it something". The principle ingredient was ethyl alcohol, which made it popular it areas that were "dry".

We had a lot of nicknames around here too. Here is part of a list (and these are real), I compiled of some the more "colorful" ones:
Engineer Floy L."Flossie"Barringer, named because he acted liked an old lady
Chief Clark Harold J. "Iron jaw" Brady, because he held a cigar clamped in his teeth
Conductor Gail J. "Hatchet"Grasher, because he was the local BofRT officer who cut crews out of the freight pool to maintain mileage
Engineer Clarence R. "Poopsy"Guthrie, because of a certain "gassiness"
Conductor S.B.”Candy”Hart, because he was such a "sweetheart" (not)
Agent Olin O. "Bull" Hester, because of his tall tales
Mechanical Foreman  Arley B. "Tonk" Hastin, because of his carman roots (carmen are sometimes called "tonks")
Dispatcher Prarl B. "Bum"Holland, because of his "borrowing" habits
Station Helper Tom "Rattler"Ingersoll, because of his "pleasing manner"
Engineer Marion L. "Cold Water"Johnston, because when he fired, all you had in the boiler was cold water
Switchman Robert D. "Hound Dog"McMeen because of the sad look on his face
Switchman Oliver "Brother"Rains, because he was "almost a preacher"
Road Foreman of Engines Phillip S.J. "Rovy"Rhoads, because of his "roving eyes" for the ladies
Switchman C. Glen "Poss"Robbins, because of the silly grin on his face
Engineer Robert R. "Crazy Horse" Shelton, needs no explanation!
Engineer Joseph B."Johnny Bull" Smith, because he was a native of England
Engineer Lawrence O. "Arky" Vaughn, because he acted like a hillbilly from Arkansas.
Ass't. Special Agent W.A. “Sheriff”Walker, because he acted like the town sheriff
Engineer Hartsell E. "Curly" Whorton , because of his lack of curls (baldness)
