Brian-

I didn’t do it on any of the Kato cars, but I built a Business Car using an MRC C&O Blunt End Observation Car, opening up the open end platform and adding an end bulkhead.

I fitted Atlas/Rivarossi six wheel trucks to the car and upgraded them with roller bearing caps cut off of Atlas/Rivarossi four wheel passenger trucks. These were not Delrin castings so could be glued.

You could use the DesPlaines Six Wheel Commonwealth truck (used on the SP Baggage/Mail and Articulated Kitchen Dining Car) or just use the M-T or Atlas/Rivarossi Truck.   The new M-T truck tooled for the Heavyweight cars is a taller truck and might also work, athough I am not sure which would look best.   The trucks other than the old Atlas ones will not take glue very well so you may have to live with friction bearings.  Nobody makes a six wheel Pullman truck with roller bearings…maybe Kato has it for the Daylight??? ….haven’t bought any or looked that closely at them to see what bearings they have or the design of the truck.   The Kato PRR RPO truck is too weird for the CB&Q car.

I know this is not the converted heavyweight car like the prototype but I was wondering if anyone had updated it with 3 axle trucks to look more accurate and if so what trucks did you use and how did you modify it?
