Ricky,

This was just discussed on the Yahoogroups Passenger Car List  under the topic of Dulux Gold Heavyweight Microscale Decals.  If you search the archieves, starting around message 80546 you can follow the discussion.  I've copied and posted a response from that thread by Kevin Bunker on color match for an actual restoration.

Re: Dulux Gold Heavyweight Microscale Decals

The reigning standard "perfect" match for DuPont Dulux Gold is actually a sign
painters' oil enamel (designed to be brush-applied with a long-haired sable
"quill") called 1-Shot or One Shot. We used this at California State Railroad
Museum after finding it to match the majority of those pieces of historic
equipment from the 19th and 20th centuries which used yellow ochre-color as an
imitation gold.

One Shot brand uses white lead in its formulas, hence it is generally restricted
to commercial paint shops specializing in the sign supply trade, and in such
cases comes in small 1/4-pint cans.

For those needing it for large jobs, the stuff can be gotten in 1-pint and
1-gallon cans, although the laws of most states requires that the gallon size be
sold only wholesale and never to minors.

Subject: [CBQ] Duluxe Gold Paint

I had the opportunity to take a look at a CB&Q baggage car being restored by the Fremont & Elkhorn Valley Railroad (and then ride in the cab of the SW12 for the trip!).  It appears to be an MB-22, either 1936 or 1938 (you can see the lettering under the Pullman green paint).

What they need is Duluxe Gold paint for the lettering.  Any assistance with the formula or source would be appreciated

They are going to use the baggage area as a concession counter and restore the RPO area as much as they can.

As an aside, the car is being restored using a grant from the Union Pacific railroad.

Also, they contacted IRM to get the car diagrams, were referred to the Pullman library but haven't heard back from them.  Does anyone have a contact for who would have the diagrams?

Thanks

Ricky Keil
