I am hoping there are a few members of this group that have one or more of the
ORER's for 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963. The information I am looking for
is about the CB&Q series #41000-41899 XM-2's. More specifically I would like
to have the total number of cars from each years ORER to see the progression of
cars being added to the fleet year by year. I would also like to confirm the
dimensional data reported for each year individually.
In my personal collection of material I have a copy of ORER's from 1964, 1966
and 1969. The other ORER's I have are for years before the production of these
cars began. The total number of cars reported in this series in the 1964 ORER
was 899. So I would like to determine the build up of the fleet year to year
as reported in the ORER's. For example the number of cars reported for each
year beginning in 1959 and ending in 1963
The 1964 ORER reports the cars as having: 40' 6" inside length: 9'2" inside
width; 10' 6" inside height. It reports their outside dimensions as being: an
outside length as being 41' 10"; outside width as 9' 11". And finally it
reports the cars as having a capacity of 3940 cu ft at level full and a
capacity load of 100000 lbs (50 tons).
If there is anyone who can report an as-built "Lt Wt" for these cars as-built
at Havelock that would also be very helpful. The optimum scenerio would be that
someone can supply a builder's photo of a new car from the CB&Q Havelock Shops.
