The well-remembered and much beloved Bevier & Southern is but
30 miles from my home here in Brookfield, Missouri. In railfan terms that is
my backyard. But, all of this talk about searching for a Q composite side
gondola and finding one in the weeds south of Bevier, restoring its condition,
and getting it to the National Museum of Transport in St. Louis, all without
my knowing that effort was going on, makes me feel as though I missed the
party in my backyard.
Would some kind soul in this group, send me an
off-line e-mail informing me of who all was involved in this effort, when, and
over how much time? Fascinating that it was done, and I certainly salute those
dedicated souls who did it. Now, perhaps, if this group is still active they
could just come back to Brookfield and get the classic 4-window wood waycar
(still has wooden beams on trucks), that sits, rotting more each day, on a
farm 2 miles out of town, restore it and get it safely into a museum, all
would be right with the world.
Thanks,
John A.
