Larry,
The best prices I found are from Costco. They use a company called YES VIDEO, but if you got to Yes Video web site, they charge more per foot than Costco - I guess Costco has a special contract with them. Costco price is
$17.99 for the first 150 feet, $.11 per foot per additional foot - also for what it is worth, Walgreens also sends there film to Yes Video but charges more!
I have transferred all my Super 8 film of my family to DVD using Costco last year and am extremely happy with the results. I then merged my family DVD's using my computer and the program ROXIO 2011 and made multiple copies for all my kids.
I even had my Super 8 railroad film of the Burlington I took in the early 1960's made into DVD's.
Check out the Costco web site and at the very top of the web page, go to "PHOTO". They have a short film clip on how it works.
I have hundreds of feet of film, and yes it was a little costly, but as I look at it now, I can view these anytime I want. My film projector broke some 25 years ago. My 4 kids have complete copies of our wedding, them growing up and movies of there grandparents that they have never seen.
I would recommend this. I also have several hundred slides of the Burlington I took in the late 50's early 60's and although my slide projector is still in great working condition, it is a hassle to take it out to view the slides. I am seriously looking at converting these to DVD using Costco.

I started this thread about digging out your old films, but
I'm afraid I have no experience with the FILM-to-digital process. I do have
a VHS/DVD combo recorder that I can transfer my old VHS tapes onto DVD, so all
my experience has been Tape-to-DVD. I've had pretty good luck with
it.
I had taken several Super 8 films of my kids when they were
little. One of my sons took my old films and had them transferred to VHS
some time back. I recently transferred that VHS onto DVD then made several
copies on my computer.
I checked at my local Walgreens Drug Store and they offer
the Film-to-DVD service in their photo dept., but at a rate that I thought was a
bit high -- $25 for the first 100 feet and 18 cent/foot thereafter. Up to
1,600 feet for 8mm and 3,200 feet for 16mm.
I'm sure that there are better prices out there. Maybe someone
can make some other suggestions.

Hi Folks......
The recent Q videos reminded me that I have a couple
hundred feet of the 4960 and 5632 on Super 8. So, since I'd like to contribute
to the video archives, where or what, is the best place to get them put on
DVD?
Thanks,
