In the early days of the GP-20's, EMD "remanufactured" FT's into GP-20's. What it really meant was that the railroads traded FT's in on GP-20's and EMD in turned used components of the FT's on the new units thus the fiction that they rebuilt FT's. I think there may have been a tax angle too. So in that sense, there are still a few "FT's" running around! From: ANDREW KOETZ <andrewkoetz@gmail.com> To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com Sent: Monday, January 2, 2012 11:41 PM Subject: [CBQ] re: BN GP 20s Wouldn't all the FTs have been purged from the roster by the time the GP20CATS were done, or did they take FTs from the "snowplow power" fleet, and just build a whole new long hood, cab, and nose?
It was 5 Q units and 5 GN units. Some of the GN units started out as FT units from what I've seen. Bryan J. Maybe I was wrong. I will keep my freedom, my guns, and my religion, you can keep the "change". __._,_.___
