Rupert, Hol-

I captured that eBay photo of 204736 and it is a little more legible than the copy you posted….you can read the dimensional data.   The 204738 is at the Illinois Railway Museum.

The 204739 started the “standard” cast steel cars.   Somewhere in my computer I have a scan from a book of a very early CB&Q scale test car that predates the 204736 but I cannot find it at the moment.   My Douda freight car roster information is packed so I can’t speculate on what the full range of numbers and types would be on the scale test cars.

The Test Car Dynamometer 204725 was converted into a MOW Waycar in 1929… could the “Test Car” ordered in 1926 be the steel replacement Dynamometer 30?

I'm pretty sure it was a scale test car, as I've seen an AFE for an earlier AC&F car than the 204738 and earlier AC&F standard design cars are now known to have existed on the Q.  See the attached photo of 204736; the number is tough to read, but it is visible in this 1930s view.  This, of course, is information that has come to light since these cars were covered in BB 20.  The AC&F builder's view of 204738, completed in November 1916, is also attached for comparison.  Why the 1926 car would be numbered below the 1916 one is something of a mystery, though.

According to an AC&F lot number page, CB&Q ordered a "Test Car" in 1926.  Anyone know anything about this car?
