When I looked at this photo of Boxcar 21329 at Fairview Avenue, my attention was immediately drawn to the color of the trucks on all of the commuter cars.  Compared to the silver trucks under E8 9976, the trucks under all of the commuter equipment, including the generator coach, appear to be uniformly dirty, or even BLACK!  The photo is dated 1966.  Was there a period in the mid 60's when the trucks under the commuter equipment were painted black?  I thought this only occurred well after merger, in the Metra era.

I should have mentioned that both 21312 and 21324 were listed on the 1970 ORER.
 
I've found a photo of 21329 in 1966 also in green paint at
but, alas, no Chinese red ones!
