nice if there was one in chinese red (if they were so
painted).

These boxcars were from the series 21300-21349 built in
1941 at Havelock as part of the XM-33 class. They were renumbered to
8500-8549 on the passenger car roster in 1944-5 with high speed trucks, steel
wheels, steam and train signal lines. In 1953, 42 cars (presumably all
the cars that remained from the group) were fitted with DF loaders and
reverted back to their original numbers. From 1963, individual cars were
fitted with pallets, platforms or skids. There were about 36 cars
from this series still on the roster in 1970.
There is a photo of 21322 still in express green paint
on page 25 of Mike Spoor's Volume 4, and of 21301 taken in 1953 in the
Vancouver City digital archive.

Boxcar
Walthers is releasing a 50' AAR boxcar in road numbers 21312
and 21324. I've checked the color guide and some online sources but
haven't been able to determine if the Q actually had any cars in this number
series. My 1969 OER is somewhere in packing boxes and asking if anyone
can shed light if these cars are reasonably
accurate.
Thanks
