One interesting follow up - I have an original EMD E7 manual for the CB&Q E7's.
That was back when EMD did locomotive manuals specific to the railroad, not
just a generic manual for everyone. (EMD did do a generic E7 manual later, but
this is the earlier CB&Q manual.) The manual is dated September 1, 1947. The
cover page lists it for "CB&Q No. 9926A & B to 9930A & B 9949". I was just
looking at it last week and had forgotten about the lone 9949.
