Duncan I do know live hogs were loaded at Galesburg and shipped to Albany and Rochester NY via Peoria and the NKP on some moves will appear in a future Zephyr or Bulletin Steve in SC ________________________________ From: Duncan Cameron <d.cameron@sympatico.ca> To: CBQ@yahoogroups.com; RITSlist@yahoogroups.com; RI_models@yahoogroups.com; tpw_rr@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sat, October 29, 2011 9:07:35 PM Subject: [CBQ] Meat Week I'm raising a subject that came up years ago on the TP&W list. The idea is that in the sixties and perhaps earlier, the CB&Q, CRI&P and the TP&W took turn about each week running meat traffic from packers in North Kansas City to be handed off to the NKP (I'm guessing at Peoria). I don't know where the TP&W would have picked up the meat unless it was a transfer from the AT&SF at Ft. Madison or Lomax. This arrangement apparently ended with the N&W merger in 1964 because the merger gave the NKP (now part of N&W) direct access to Kansas City via the former Wabash. Can anyone confirm or deny this arrangement, or provide additional details? With thanks.
