I'm raising a subject that came up years ago on the TP&W list. The idea is that in the sixties and perhaps earlier, the CB&Q, CRI&P and the TP&W took turn about each week running meat traffic from packers in North Kansas City to be handed off to the NKP (I'm guessing at Peoria). I don't know where the TP&W would have picked up the meat unless it was a transfer from the AT&SF at Ft. Madison or Lomax. This arrangement apparently ended with the N&W merger in 1964 because the merger gave the NKP (now part of N&W) direct access to Kansas City via the former Wabash. Can anyone confirm or deny this arrangement, or provide additional details? With thanks.
