Hi Group  According to "Place Names of Illinois" by Edward Callary     Founded
in 1869 as Franklin named for site owner and first postmaster Joel G. Franklin.
The name was changed to Barstow in 1878 to agree with the name of the CB&Q
station.       Post office established as Franklin Crossing on March 4, 1870
and changed to Barstow       on August 12, 1878.

That's what both myself and the friend I'm researching this for think,

there's not too many other Barstow's out there. He also had Strong

City KS named after him, so all he needed was a town to be named

William to complete the triad.

Thank you kindly,
