I posted this question on the Steam Era Freight Car List, but nobody came back, so I must have gone to the wrong well. I'm building several CB&Q XM-21/22/23 box cars, and I want to update some of them with AB brakes. The Q mounted the air reservoir on the same side as the brake cylinder and control valve on XM-28 and XM-29 box cars, but I can't find clear pictures or drawings of the underside of XM-21/22/23 box cars to see where the air reservoir was mounted. If fact, the only pictures I've found show KC brakes. Kit instructions aren't always reliable about AB brake component location, so I was hoping for an authoritative response and preferably a drawing or photo showing AB brake placement on XM-21/22/23 box cars.
