such equipment was painted the standard CB&Q Safety orange to begin with but 
often quickly faded to yellow, esp. steel surfaces.  This equipment frequently 
was out of doors, in the sun, etc.  Same is true for larger MoW equipment (bunk 
& tool cars) - orange could & did fade to light orange & finally yellow.  
Depended too on quality of paint job, surface preparation, etc.
