"Railroading in 18 Countries" by Gen Carl R. Gray and "US Army Transportation
Corps Loco's" by R. Tourret shows

Army leased and was operated by what became the 770th Railway Operating
Battalion who's CO was Lt. Colonel W.P. Wilson an operating Superintendent from
the C&S Narrow Gauge 19 officers, 2 Warrent Officers and 708 Enlisted men.
Colonel Wilson later rotated back to US after the winter of 1943 and became CO
of 745th ROB the unit sponsored by the CB&Q which served in India where
Colonel
Wilson was moved to Italy as Deputy Director Military Railway Service and then
moved to South France.
Seven DRGW Class 470 stored at Alamosa and Salida Numbered USA TC 250-256
Two ET&WNC 4-6-0 Rebuilt at NP Tacoma Numbered WP&Y 10 and 14
Two C&S 2-8-0 69 and 70 Numbered 20 and 21
Three Silverton, Gladstone and Northern 2-8-0 Nos. 3,4, and 34 Numbered 22-24
Eleven brand new Baldwin "Mac Arthur" 2-8-2 in USA/TC 190-200 numbers
Seems No. 20 was renumbered back to No. 69 withdrawn in 1954 and sold to
Blackhills Central RR in '56 as "Klondike Casey"
The Train Master I worked for in Cicero(took care of Operators and Dispatchers
Lines East) had been with the 714th ROB in Alaska and my Farther-in-law was
with
the 745th having worked for the Q before the war

The engine #69 running on the WP&Y is a WP&Y engine.

The C&S engines 69 and 70 were renumbered when they went to the WP&Y. I don't
have my references but I believe they became 19 & 20 on the WP&Y and they were
scrapped after the war.
