Rare? - - YUP !! Does it sometimes happen? - - YUP !!

I was approached by my Supt. in Trinidad, CO. about takin' an RFE position IN
Trinidad. I mused, isn't it a rule on BN that promotions are awarded to
employees OUTside their seniority district? He responded, "rules are meant ta
be broken" !~! I asked, would it be permissible to use THAT defense if ever I
was called to an investigation ?? His response, "I wouldn't try it" !!!!!!
His name was Butch !!

Within a week the wheels were set in motion that ultimately resulted in my
"promotion" to RFE in Trinidad, my seniority district. It was the beginning of
a 10 yr. stint as a RR Officer that was quite rewarding, when viewed in
retrospect. The "I know mine and mine know me" addage was never more fully
understood than during that 10 yr. period. We all got along VERY well,
however, and no issues ever arose as the result of having worked with these
guys for so many years as an Engineer. These things ARE possible !!!

Leo, I know of whom you speak !!

Karl
