If, indeed, you traveled exactly as you say you would have left St. Paul on CGW
No. 13 a5 8:45pm and arrived at Omaha (Burlington Station) at 7:30am.
The CGW was the only other railroad to use the Burlington station...

Your trip would have not been the epitomie of comfortable and speedy
travel...This train carried only AC coaches...Minneapolis to Omaha and the CGW
was not noted for its smooth right of way and fast schedules... ABove from my
December 1953 Official Guide.

At Omaha both stations are still there...the Burlington Station virtually
abandoned although several proposed projects have been begun and failed..The
Union Station...used by all Omaha roads except Q and CGW is now the Western
Heritage Museum and is restored to its former granduer (sp). The covered
walkway over the tracks between the stations has been removed.

Pete

Subject: [CBQ] Train travel question

Way back in 1954 I traveled from St.Paul to San Francisco with my mother. We
left St.Paul and I believe arrived in Omaha and then walked next door to
Union Station to make a connection to the City Of San Francisco. I remember
both stations being elevated. The problem I'm having is on what train did we
take from St.Paul to arrive in Omaha? I thought we arrived at a Burlington
station. Somewhere my memory isn't what it used to be, and any help and/or
ideas as whast how we got there would be greatly appreciated. John Trulson
