I don't have a copy of the book so I don't know what the 1990 photographs show.
Q alignment charts from the early 1950's and the mid-60's both show a bridge
containing three 16' concrete trestle spans, two 30' deck plate girder spans,
two 45' DPG's, and one 70' DPG. These span lengths agree with the total length
of 270 ft. that I show in my old bridge records. I don't know the correct
order of the spans, but I may have other records that show span orientation,
and I will look for them. In the meantime, you may be able to compare the
above span descriptions with the photographs you have to see if there is some
correlation.

The Q bridge was older than 1950. There was a line change in 1948 from the
east end of curve 133 to about the middle of Burke siding, but the original
line was used over Johnson Creek and the other bridge just west of it.

Subject: [CBQ] Bridge over Johnson Creek

Looking for some help from the old heads. I just received a Four Ways
West book called Windy City to the Twin Cities. It's a BN book covering the Q
territory. On page 50 there are two pictures of a bridge over Johnson
Creek just a few miles east of the Burke siding - a steel girder bridge - with
a what seems to me a different arrangement of girders and decks. Can
anyone tell me if this bridge had been built before 1950? It looks like an old
structure, but the pictures were taken in the 1990's. I'm trying to
determine if I can model this as the pictures show back in 1950.

Thanks,

Rich G.
