Gerald and group. Here are some other hotel rates for Galesburg given to me by
telephone about 30 minutes ago:
Country Inn Suites (near the mall about 3-4 miles from Best Western) 99.00
plus
13% tax
309-344-4444
Holiday Inn Express ( on the other side of the Interstate from Best Western)
90.55 plus 13% tax
this is their AARP / AAA rate 309-343-7100
Super 8 at Monmouth (15 minutes away via 4 lane U. S. 34) 59.88 plus tax.
They
will honor AARP
and AAA as an additional discount. 309-734-8558
America's Best Value Inn (the old Ramada Inn) $49.95 plus 13% tax for total of
56.44
309-343-9161 (located on the town square about 2 miles from the Best Western)
There are 2 more hotels near the Mall (Comfort inn is already full and the
Fairfield Inn won't answer the telephone.) There are 2 colleges in our area
that usually resume classes about this time so it might be wise to book early.
Hope this helps Gerald and tell those in charge of the meet that I will be glad
to help in any manner I can.

Given the high gas prices and an economy still not 'robust', may I respectfully
suggest one of our many Galesburg mbrs to post names, locations, phone #'s and
rates at less expensive Galesburg motels?? We did so for the Dubuque meet,
more
than met our 'host' hotel obligation but also enabled mbrs on a tight budget to
also attend. We need to boost attendance as this is a retread location and the
8th(?) consecutive meet, Spring & Annual, in one state.

Subject: [CBQ] BRHS 2011 fall meet information
The fall 2011 Burlington Route Historical Society meet will be held in
Galesburg, IL on September 9th and 10th. The meet will be at the Best Western,
Prairie Inn, 300 S. Soangetaha Rd., Galesburg, IL 61402-1448 phone:
309-343-7151. Room rates will be: single adult occupancy $79.99, double adult
occupancy $79.99, triple adult occupancy $89.99, quad adult occupancy $99.99.
Details as to clinics, exact schedule of events, etc. are still being worked
out. Hosts for this meet will be Jim Singer being assisted by Dick Kasper.
No plans have been made for the spring and fall meets in 2012. We are looking
for persons to "host" meets for these and if someone is interested in hosting a
meet contact the BRHS at P.O. Box 456, La Grange, IL 60525. We would like to do
the fall meet on Lines West (probably Denver) but need a local host who knows
the area and can coordinate things. As of this writing we have no one
indicating
that they would like to "host" a meet. If the board members have to arrange for
the meets for the 2012 time frame it will have to be in the Chicagoland area.
If
a person or persons are interested in hosting a meet we can send them a copy of
the Annual Meet Guide to assist them in planning the meet and also to let them
know what all is involved with hosting a meet.
We are still looking for a V.P. of Operations to oversee planning for meets in
the future and/or a Meet Coordinator who would be willing to do the work
involved in finding hosts and helping plan future meets.
